Nonprofit Transforms Hotel into Apartments for Homeless

Will you #Be1of5000 Partners to Help us Help Homeless Pregnant Women and infants?

“Without a home, everything is fragmentation.” – John Berger, British Essayist

How often do you drive through an area with abandoned buildings and casually wonder what happened, without much of a second glance?  I would guess that describes most people, but not John Parvensky, Head of Colorado Coalition for the Homeless in Denver, CO. He’s been working hard to help the homeless in his city for years.

Winter is always the most difficult season, and Parvensky has been brainstorming for how to shorten the time period to get someone off the street and into a home.  When he noticed that an old Quality Inn and Suites hotel was put up for sale, he jumped at the chance to buy it.  With the help of private, state and city funding he was able to renovate all the hotel rooms into 139 studio apartment units which he named Fusion Studios.

With 24-hour security and on-site property managers who actively support the residents in rebuilding their lives, this old building has been transformed into a compassionate “leg-up” for those less fortunate rather than a profit-focused stop-over point for travelers.  Kindness like that is priceless! Read more about his noble venture here.

We, at Sheltering Grace, also care for the homeless in our city of Atlanta – specifically mothers and their babies. Please contact us at 678-337-7858 to learn how you can help. Each mother and baby will be truly grateful for your kindness.

Sheltering Grace Ministry, Ltd. is a 501(c)3 Ltd. non-profit ministry. We resolve the initial crisis of homelessness by providing mothers with a safe place to live during pregnancy. We also equip them with the tools they need to improve decision-making, enhance employment options, and increase family income to act responsibly as the head of their household. All of our services develop their self-reliance to progress to permanent independent living. Please join us in renewing and rebuilding the lives of these brave women – #Be1of5000.
